Air Canada Celebrates Holiday Magic with Heartwarming Hockey Ad “The Pond”

MONTREAL, Dec 11, 2024 – Air Canada has once again captured the spirit of the season with its enchanting new holiday advertisement, “The Pond.” This 90-second film beautifully weaves together magic, nostalgia, and a tribute to Canada’s love of hockey, while also highlighting the airline’s commitment to empowering women in sports.

A Tale of Magic and Dreams

“The Pond” tells the enchanting story of two young sisters who are eagerly anticipating the freezing of their backyard pond so they can engage in their beloved game of hockey. One sister, filled with the wonder of the season, makes a wish upon a shooting star. To their amazement, an Air Canada plane appears, transporting them directly to the North Pole and Santa’s workshop.

Upon awakening at home, the sisters initially question if their magical journey was a dream. Their doubts are dispelled when they discover a special bottle left by Santa. With just a drop, their pond transforms into a glittering ice rink, making their wish come true. This heartwarming narrative encourages viewers to believe in the magical possibilities of the holiday season.

Andy Shibata, Vice President of Brand at Air Canada, said, “We’re proud to weave wonder into our holiday stories, bringing families and friends closer together as part of a cherished tradition for all of us at Air Canada.” Through “The Pond,” Air Canada not only conveys its passion for hockey but also underscores its dedication to championing gender equality in sports and aviation.

Jeremiah McNama, Executive Creative Director at FCB, added, “‘The Pond’ is a love letter to the simple joys of winter—watching backyard ponds freeze, lacing up skates, and playing the game we love under the glow of holiday lights.”

Promoting Gender Equality and Community
